What is Bohemian modern all about?
For several years I have heard people say (my 15-year-old included) that they want a modern Bohemian style. But what does that even mean? Here is the rundown as I can best describe it.
First, Bohemian means unconventional. So if you see a room with lots of unique elements, there is a chance that they are taking a stab at being bohemian. Or it could be that weird Aunt with no style at all. To get more precise, you will often see a mix of vintage and contemporary pieces, bold patterns, a mixture of textiles, and a variety of (primarily earth-tone) colors. Usually, there is a focus on natural materials such as wood plants and woven blankets.
The style is about creating a cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere that invites people in. The color palette is oft
en muted and earthy, with pops of bright colors and patterns.
This style is meant to be lived in and enjoyed. It encourages personal expression and creativity. It is a perfect style for those who want to create a warm and welcoming place that is both comfortable and stylish.
